Anthony [and fellow alumni],

I am asking your help via the web site with this request.

The School is in need of some funds quickly to facilitate the Cadet Corps' participation in the All Island competition for Cadet Units. The present need is US $1,500.00.

The island has 6 battalions and St. Catherine High is in the 6th Battalion. Despite some challenges and difficulties the school emerged champion of that battalion beating out 10 other companies including older established units such as St. Jago and STATHS winning the Shipping Association Trophy.

They now go up against the other battalion champions for the Ruel Vaz Trophy but only stand a chance if they get new uniforms and equipment. The Corps has been financing itself through fundraising activities and this is now beyond them.

The first competition was judged by the Combined Cadet Corp but the All-island will be judged by the Jamaica Defence Force, so perfectly coordinated uniforms and good instruments are imperative.

St. Catherine High will be judged on the 30th of March. We need help ASAP. They will go ahead and get what is required on credit but it must be paid for.

I need some commitment and assistance from Past Students afar to help with this.

N.B> The Senor Cricket team had a very good win against Kingston College to qualify for the semi-final round of that competition. The U-16 Cricket Team is also doing well as defending champion having won 2 of 3 games.

The Schools Challenge team also won their first round game.

There is a lot of positive energy in the school so all the help that can be given would be appreciated.

Hello Anthony [and fellow alumni]

I am just a bit busy with studying for my boards, doing some research and working which is why you haven't heard from me. I am also interested in doing things for the school that has helped me in getting to where I am.

I recently visit there and was fortunate to have contacted Mr. Neil, who is still involved with choir as well as Mr. Johnny. The school itself I think is in a deplorable condition and as a former student athlete, I would like to see some improvement. I was wondering how would we be able to get a fund set up, for improvement to the school? This would have to include a detailed accounting of how the money is managed, as we know that there are elements that would misuse these funds.

Improvements I would like to see:
    1) A fully computerized and stocked library (that might also serve the local community.
    2) Implementing a loaner book program for those who can't afford the text books (These books must be returned for the upcoming class.)
    3) A breakfast program (for those who can't afford basic meals every day.)
    4) A scholarship for at least 2 students to UWI or CAST, maybe even overseas college.
    5) Improvement to the football field, the netball court (which I didn't see), and the cricket pitch.
    6) I would love to see the removal of the fence seperating senior from junior campus, I heard about the reason for it's construction, however I feel that it is important for student to cross path and should things get to a certain level, then the law should deal with it. There will always be some form of hazing, but if it becomes criminal, building a fence does not stop it and it send a bad message.
Please reply and let me know what you think and how we can get started on some of these projects.

Sincerely,
