CAN YOU HELP?

Dear fellow alumni,

Most of us have admitted that we are where we are and who we are mainly due to the schooling and nurturing we got at St Catherine High. Many of us are indebted to fine tutors like Mr. Neale, Mrs. Needham-Brown, Mr. Johnson, Mrs. Fuller, Mr. Baker and the late and beloved Mr. Smikle.

We have taken away from SCHS more than "head" knowledge. We were groomed to be fine men and women capable of making an impact in our community and on society at large. Is it too much to ask to "return the favor?"

Any high school that depends solely on the Jamaican government for financial support will not survive for long. The Gleaner recently carried an article stating that the Jamaican Government will cut funding for school repairs and maintenance. That's why your support is so important to the survival of our beloved school.

Right now is a great time to show our gratitude and indebtedness to our beloved school. There is a great need for money to fund certain events and projects that are important to the continued success and prestige of St Catherine High. Some of these are listed in the letters of two outstanding past students.

The most pressing need at this moment is for funds to facilitate the Cadet Corps' participation in the All Island competition for Cadet Units. The present need is US $1,500.00.

Although things are "tight" for many of us, let us look at our present situations and prayerfully consider what we can do right now to help others who are less fortunate.

To make it easy to contribute to the school's needs, a PayPal account has been opened. It is paypal@stcatherinehigh.com. Anyone with a PayPal account in the USA, Canada, Europe and parts of Asia, can deposit money to this account. If you do not have a PayPal account signing up is easy and it's FREE.

Be assured that all proceeds to this account will be given to the school. A statement documenting the deposits into this account will be made available to any past or present student or teacher who wants to see it.

Let us not turn our backs on our beloved school. Contribute whatever you can afford.

LET US GIVE BACK SOMETHING TO OUR SCHOOL.

Yours Sincerely,
Your fellow alumnus/alumna Anthony Thomas (class of '79)
